Cherry Creek State Park (4201 S Parker Rd, Aurora, CO 80014) covers 4,000 acres anchored by the 880-acre Cherry Creek Reservoir — one of the most-visited state parks in Colorado, hosting swimming beaches, sailing, camping, an off-leash dog park, disc golf, and 12 miles of multi-use trails. The park entrance off Parker Road is the only vehicle access point for the main recreation area, and the day-use parking lot fills by 10 a.m. on any warm summer Saturday. Day passes run $10 per vehicle.
For large family reunions, youth group events, or company picnics using the park's group reservation areas, arriving in one bus is the practical choice — one day pass, one coordinated drop-off at the picnic shelter, and no one arriving 45 minutes late because they couldn't find the entrance off Parker Road.
